About Outside the Lines

Outside the Lines Young Artists’ Studio is an independent art studio where artists age 3 to 15 can develop their creativity and gain self-confidence through visual art. Young artists explore art history, basic theory, and technique by using art masters past and present as their guides. Structured lessons are intermixed with open studio time, giving young artists an opportunity to explore art on their own terms. Small class sizes provide individualized attention and art materials are high quality.

Philosophy:
The process of creating is far more valuable that the resulting creation. A child who has spent time exploring an art medium thoroughly may or may not produce a masterpiece worthy of professional framing and prominent display. They will certainly produce something they are proud of, independent of others’ opinions. They will have expressed themselves to their own satisfaction. They will have experienced something new and learned from it. They will feel more self-assured and confident. And those are products you can’t hang on the wall, or even the fridge.
